10 Benefits of Living in a Small-town!

1. Everyone Knows You And You Know Everyone.
This may be a major turn off to some reguarding certain cities. However living in columbus there is many opportunities because everyone knows who you are.

2.Your Childhood Will Be/Was Awesome.
From the boom downtown to the ohio state fair jazz festival latino fest juneteenth to the pumpkin patch. I grew up around a range of cultures. From that i began to love all things and it helped me understand different perspectives

3.You see the world differently. (In a good way.)
Both figuratively and literally. I remember my first time at a real beach (not a man made beach) cough cough alum creek. It was a whole new experience feeling the sand.You learn to love everything around you.(including your little smalltown). I appreciate it that much more growing up in a small-town. Instead of failures you see opportunities. Where most would see a rainy day you see a chance to dance in the rain, sing in the rain, go swimming in the rain. All of which ive done.

4. You Will Grow.
Living in a Small-town there is numerous ways to grow as an individual. Rather through art science or any other passion there opportunities to flourish and harness your talents.

5.Range of Entertainment
Horseback riding movies bowling karaoke arcades hiking ( as you can see is one of my personal favorites) amusement parks etc. The list could go on

6.You Become Adventurous.
You travel more at first its just to escape then you come back to your small-town and you become curious of all the things that make your city unique the hidden gems and you chase those desires

7.You Will Gain Life Long Friendships.
Last but certainly not least your learn what it means to be a true friend for a lifetime. From friends you met through high school or those who have been childhood friends since well when your parents were young.

8.You learn a lot about people.
My first weirdest best worstexperience was riding the public transit for the first time. I had to catch the bus to school and this old white man sat right next to me his breathe wreeked of alcohol but something weird happened i listened. He was talking about his wife and kids and how he was going through a bad time in his marriage and how he was struggling with an alcoholic addiction and he gave me a great piece  of advice I still carry with me.

9.You are free to express yourself
There is room for everyone here with very little judgement. Theres opportunities to create morals paintings. No matter your style of life choices. You will be welcomed

10.You Learn Important Life lessons. (From Experience)
Of course many of the above and below are testiments to this statement. I Watched this movie called little birds about two girls coming of age story in a small-town one quote that was said that I took with me was when the dad said “One day she will realize its all just geography.” no matter where your from small town to big city at the end its all just geography.

Before I had a clear understanding of what The butterfly effect would be I  had this image in my mind simple and to the point my blog will be about travel and experience of New cultures im excited I just got one job offer and another interview tomorrow just one step and opportunity for my Europe Trip Im planning. This was just a quick update. Tell me your thoughts.

Beauty Lies in Your Own Backyard

Today in my own backyard. I found this beauty. A butterfly hanging onto its cocoon. I was fascinated by the symbolism that it related to my life. Ofcourse I  immediately grabbed my camera and began to study it. A gust of wind blew. I was for sure the butterfly would fall or fly away. But to my suprise it did neither. So i quickly began doing my research.

Many may know the butterfly has for life cycles Butterflies go through a life cycle. There are four stages. The first stage is the eggs. This is where a girl butterfly lays eggs. She lays them on a leaf. The second stage is the caterpillar. This is where the eggs hatch. It takes about five days for the eggs to hatch. A caterpillar then comes out. At this stage, the caterpillar eats all the time. It also grows really fast. Once it is all the way grown, the third stage starts. This stage is the chrysalis. The caterpillar makes a chrysalis. The caterpillar is inside the chrysalis. Inside the chrysalis, it starts to change. It soon changes into a butterfly. Once the caterpillar has changed into a butterfly, the fourth stage starts. This is also that last stage in the life cycle. In stage four, the chrysalis opens. Soon a butterfly comes out. A butterfly is sometimes called an imago. It is also called an adult. When the butterfly first comes out its wings are damp. The wings are also soft. The wings are folded against its body. The butterfly is also very tired. So the butterfly rests.
Once the butterfly has rested, it will be ready to start flying. It will start to pump blood into its wings. This is to get them working and flapping. After it does this, it can now learn to fly. Butterflies cannot fly good at first. They need a lot of practice. It does not take long for them to learn. They learn fast. When it can fly, it will go look for food. The butterfly will also go look for a mate. It will soon find a mate. It will then lay eggs. The lifecycle will start all over again.

If only you knew how relevant this was to my life. And the serendipitous event happen to occur in my very own backyard. It only makes me more excited for my journey to come. Right now I’m planning on a year in Europe. Im so excited. But until then Im enjoying the comforts of my own backyard.

My First Time Surfing!

Here I was two dreams coming true. 1. To go to Hawaii. 2. To learn to surf. The day had finally arrived I was so nervous. I remembering thinking I hope I don’t drown. I was the first from the group to arrive. Filled out paperwork. They gave me swim shoes and a swim top that I had to put over my swimsuit. Later a couple walked in looking just as nervous as I did I asked them had they surfed before? I was eager when their reply was it was their first time. I wasn’t alone on this crazy adventure! Moments later a family of five had arrived they were so full of joy. I overheard someone say something about make a wish foundation. But my nervousness and excitement was far louder than someone’s whispers. We all gathered in a van to waikiki beach which was like two minutes away, if that. As soon as we got their we got our surfboards and headed to the shore. My heart was racing. Before we went in they told us how to hold our boards and how to surf.

 It was time! The moment i looked forward to since I was about six years old. It was quite different than i expected however. It was hard to catch a wave. After wipeout after wipeout I got weary and wanted so badly to give up. I remember one of the trainers kept yelling “paddle paddle paddle.” But i got nowhere. Every time I got close it was like the water was conspiring against me and I kept getting further away. but then something happened. I realized this was what I wanted for years. So i paddled as hard as I could and was off before I knew it i was surfing.

In the end It was all worth it and my last time surfing I not only caught a wave it was the longest way I caught. I heard my mothers applause from a distance and smiled. I definitely can’t wait until I go surfing again. after everything was done me and my mom talked about everything and ofcourse the make a wish foundation came up. We talked about the family of 5 who was apart of the make a wish foundation. We admitted to each other that we didn’t have it in us to ask them who was sick. After all it was none of our business. But we went on ranting and raving about them. All of them were joyous and full of life and none of them looked like they were ill. I will forever hold them as a place in my heart. I continue to pray for each one of them. To keep their joyous hearts and laughter. Because no matter what obstacles you face in life you always will have something to smile about. I will leave you with this. chase your dreams! Dont be afraid. Theres a whole world out there waiting to be explored. Love as many people as you can and never take life for granted. Carpe diem and seize the day.
